I am so very proud of my "Chance". Of all the dogs at this event yesterday, which is below, that TSCR participated in my boy got his picture in the paper. Everyone came up to him yesterday and just loved on him. The man from the newspaper was so impressed with "Chance's Rally to Rescue" story and TSCR  Of course this morning I am so proud of Chance for making the news...

Money raised supports animal rescue groups

The Floyd County 4-H Fairgrounds went to the dogs -- and cats -- during the annual Rally to Rescue fundraising event yesterday.

Hundreds of pet lovers poured into the central barn area, where dozens of breed-specific animal-rescue organizations and other vendors set up shop to raise money and awareness for their task.

Some also offered animals for adoption.

That's what brought in Stacy Kampschaefer of Sellersburg. She was cuddling a Chihuahua named Zeke her family was considering taking home.

"We have a Shih Tzu already and we're trying to find a little companion for her," Kampschaefer said.

Rally to Rescue is sponsored by pet food company Purina and its Pro Plan brand of feeds through marketing and fundraising support. The event assists small rescue organizations that organizers say might get overlooked for donations that typically go to better-known groups.

Nicole Hahn of Southern Star MinPin Rescue is this year's Kentucky-Indiana Rally to Rescue ambassador and one of the event coordinators.

"We're just out raising money and getting people aware of the fact that rescues are out there," she said. Money is raised through raffles, food booths and the sale of Rally T-shirts supplied by Purina.

The rescuers take in animals from owners or from shelters that have kept them as long as they can and might otherwise put them to death. Volunteers take the animals into their homes as foster pets and care for them until they can be adopted.

Jackie Maier, a volunteer with Tri-State Collie Rescue, said Rally to Rescue is an opportunity to meet with other organizations.

"When you do rescue, you know just about everybody; you just don't get to put names and faces together," Maier said, because so much of rescue work involves one group calling another to alert it to an animal of a specific breed that needs help.

Annual Adoption Reunion~Fundraiser - August 23rd  2008

Event held in Putnam County at Diller Manor Horse Farm

Some of the events we have attended in 2007

Quailquest Dog Walk held on September 15th - it was a very cold day but was filled with lots of good company and many other great rescues.  In the first picture you can see how hard one of our youngest volunteers must have worked,  she has fallen fast asleep  with Cassie, one of our rescues.

Here are photos Tim took of the Picnic with the Pups event which was held at Canine Companion Club located in Delaware, Ohio.  We all had a great time and I think it was one of the best events we have attended to date.  We were able to sell some of the beautiful sweatshirts that were donated to us along with other merchandise.  Some of the  Columbus Collie Club members showed up at this event and they loved the things we had to sell.  So Kim you got them to us just when as they were  arriving at our booth,  and how good was that.   I was able to get both of my dogs groomed and we all were able to see how well Jasmine is doing and meet Tim's handsome blue smooth boy.  Tracey's husband brought Cassie for me to see again and she looks wonderful.  We also picked up a new volunteer to help Pam with Mingles at the Franklin Co. Animal Shelter.
So I would like to thank everyone that helped and Tim especially you for driving so far and dedicating your entire day to this event.
