Landon

Description to come.

Jazzie

Hi! My name is Jazzie! I am a 10-12 week old sable smooth (short coat) male puppy. I was left on the side of an interstate near Kansas City and almost hit by a car, but a nice person took me to a shelter where a TSCR volunteer found me. I am in a temporary foster in Kansas City awaiting transport to TSCR.

I am up-to-date on shots, dewormed, and microchiped, but will still need my rabies and second distemper shot at 16 weeks. I get along great with other dogs and am very friendly with cats. Furry squeaky toys are my favorite, but I also like treats and playing with the adult Collie and one of the cats in my foster home. I love to wriggle and cuddle close.

I am very gentle, but still a puppy. I would be great one-on-one with my Forever Humans, with other animals, or with children. Will you be my mine?

Gillian

Meet JR and his sister Gillian. They are littermates to both Merry and Blaze. The have had their second series of vaccines and been wormed. They are learning to be potty trained and walking on leashes. All four of the puppies are love bugs and will make wonderful companions.

JR

Meet JR and his sister Gillian. They are littermates to both Merry and Blaze. The have had their second series of vaccines and been wormed. They are learning to be potty trained and walking on leashes. All four of the puppies are love bugs and will make wonderful companions.

Merrie

Merrie is an adorable, sweet, feisty little tri-color girl who is 9 weeks old. She was the smallest of the litter, but she makes up for it with her big personality. She likes to boss her brother Blaze and give him what for if he isn’t doing what she wants him to do. She does not appear to be afraid of anything and loves to look into every nook and cranny of a room. She loves to cuddle, too, and will climb into your lap for a rest, but not until she is done exploring and playing! She is learning to walk on a leash and potty in the right places, but she hasn’t gotten that down yet. Merrie has an umbilical hernia, which can be removed when she is spayed, or it even may heal on its own.

Blaze

Blaze is a sweet sable and white 9-week-old boy who likes to explore and play. He hasa calmer personality than his sister Merrie, but he, too, loves to explore and play. He doesn’t always listen to his sister when she tries to boss him around and does his own thing. He loves attention and will climb into you lap for a cuddle before he runs off to play. Blaze has an umbilical hernia, which can be removed when he is neutered , or it may even heal on its own

Shelby

Description to come.

Jacko

We think Jacko is a mix of a collie/St. Bernard cross. He has a fantastic personality and is around 1 to 2 yrs of age. He appears to be okay with cats and other dogs. He is fully vetted and waiting for his forever home.

Brady

Meet Brady - Brady is one very, very smart boy! We have been doing training tricks with treats and he picks up very quickly! He knows sit, lie down, stay, kennel up, Bang, you're dead, and crawl. Outside of the counter surfing, he is very well mannered. He walks on the leash very well and is really great with cats. Brady around 6 yrs old, is housebroken and loves to be petted and amongst his family.

Ringo - Adoption Pending

Ringo is a BIG 6 year old boy. He has been around children all his life. He is currently in foster care with both male and female dogs as well as cats. Ringo gets along very well with all his four legged canine friends. Ringo is housebroken, crate trained and walks wonderful on a leash. Ringo was recently neutered and had his teeth cleaned while he was under. Ringo has wonderful house manners & has a very gentle nature. More info to follow on Ringo as we get to know him.

Pictures to come....

Regal

Regal is a 3 year old tri-color male. He is a very sweet boy and loves to lean into you as he is being petted. He seems to be good with other dogs and does'nt pay any attention to cats, he appears to like kids and loves to give lots of kisses. Regal is not fond of getting into a vehicle but once in, he rides very well. Although we are still getting to know Regal he has been fine in the house, he comes in checks things out and them likes to lay at your feet, so far he has been crated at night. He appears to have some training and knows sit and down. Regal will make a super companion and they will be rewarded with his loving personality and kisses.

Parker - Adoption Pending

Parker is a two year old tri male smooth that was found as a stray. He is a happy, playful boy and is completely vetted. He loves to be with people and is good with other dogs. More information to follow as we learn more about him.

Pictures of Parker to come....

Shorty

Shorty is a 3-4 year old very happy collie/golden retriever cross. . Although short in stature this boy is not short on the amount of kisses and love he has to give. He is a nice size weighing about 50 lbs.He doesn't need a lot of room because he is content to stay inside with his foster family. To sum this beautiful collie mix up in one word it would have to be "LOVEBUG". His tail wags constantly and he likes to snuggle with you on the couch. He wants to be with you wherever you go. This guy is looking for a forever family that can match the amount of love he has to give. You see prior to him coming into the TSCR foster family his previous owner kept him outside tied to a tree. Shorty is good with other dogs, likes to romp and play and would love the companionship of another canine but isn't necessary. He also gets along with cats. He is very gentle and sweet natured and would do fine around children. He can be a little skittish at times. He is doing very good with his housebreaking and hasn't had any "accidents" for several days in a row. Shorty is up to date on all his shots and is neutered. He deserves a home where he will be loved, kept warm and safe, welcome on the couch and will never have to be tied to a tree again!

Chevis - Adoption Pending

Chevis is a 3 year old tri-color male. He is a very sweet boy and loves to lean into you as he is being petted. He seems to be good with other dogs and does'nt pay any attention to cats, he appears to like kids and loves to give lots of kisses. Chevis is not fond of getting into a vehicle but once in, he rides very well. Although we are still getting to know Chevis he has been fine in the house, he comes in checks things out and them likes to lay at your feet, so far he has been crated at night. He appears to have some training and knows sit and down. Chevis will make a super companion and they will be rewarded with his loving personality and kisses.

Destiny - Adoption Pending

Destiny is a beautiful sable and white girl between 3 and 4 years old. She came to TSCR because her owners could no longer afford to take care of her. She is up to date on her shots, heartworm negative and housebroken. She seems to be timid and doesn't like loud noises, but she is very friendly with people and loves to give kisses and have her tummy rubbed. She doesn't mind the crate and will curl up in it for a nap sometimes. Destiny would probably do better in a house without cats. She can jump a fence so her new home will need to be aware she is an escape artist. A privacy fence is preferred by not mandatory.

Dawn - Adoption Pending

Dawn is an ADORABLE 8 month old sable and white female. Dawn came to TSCR as an owner turn in. She is up to date on shots and has been spayed. Dawn is extermely playful and enjoys running around in the yard (in the snow) with her foster-sister Tillie (4 year old female Collie mix). She is crate trained. It is unknowsn how Dawn is with cats. She has been spending her time subdued having been spayed recently and will continue to be evaluated with updates to come. She enjoys playing and giving kisses and can't wait to find her forever home.

Dawn is being fostered in the Cincinnati area.

Rory

Here's Rory

What's Red and White and sweet all over? Its our boy Rory! He is one year of age, sable and white, is good with cats and other dogs. He can be a bit food aggressive so will probably need to be fed separately if there are other animals around.

Rory does have a gun shot wound in his leg but has no nerve damage, he has had x-rays and the vet feels it would be better to leave the wound alone so as not to cause damage. He walks and plays as if nothing is there at all. He has lots of little scars, but none emotionally that we can see. Plucky. Loving.

Rory is a very smart, and did I say Handsome boy?

Gilda

Gilda a beautiful whom we think is about 7. She is very calm, sweet and smart. She LOVES to go for walks and is good on a leash. Her eyes light up when she sees her leash, and she has very big eyes. She rides fine in a car. She does suffer a bit with her hips and has a hard time getting up because of stiffness but she has responded very well to Glucosomine and aspirin on a daily basis, and as she is a bit "full figured" a bit of weight loss will probably help as well. She has her playful moments and likes to play tug with her toys. She loves her chew bones and is adorable when she is looking for somewhere to hide them. She loves to lay by the window and look out; she also loves the cats and follows them around and sniffs them. Since she is a middle aged girl she would like the peacefulness of a forever home where she is the only canine or the companion to another calm dog.

Lucy Lu - Adoption Pending

Meet Lucy Lu who is so full of life and playfulness. She loves other dogs, is okay with cats and loves to be cuddled up next to her people companions. She will require a fenced in yard (no electric fences) as she was not socialized much with her previous owners and could be a flight risk if she was scared by something. She does not produce tears and needs to have medicine and eye moisturiers put in her eyes twice a day. She sits and lets you do what is needed and appreciates it so much afterwards.

Lucy is a very pretty sable and white little girl that likes to be groomed and is between one and two years of age. She is also crate trained and loves to chew on her nylon bone and toys.

Shane

Shane came into our rescue from a breeder, along with his litter mate, Heather. He was born on April 18, 2009 and is one of the nicest puppies I've ever had the pleasure to foster. He is somewhat of a protector, and was great about watching over his sister; Heather, when she injured her leg. He prances around the perimeter of our property along side our big smooth boy, Buddy, and keeps vigilant watch over the place. He has a beautiful full coat for a puppy his age and a demeanor to go with it. I will miss him dearly when he goes to his forever home.

He, along with his sister, has been treated for Demodectic mange (not contagious) and is healing nicely. He is a bit shy when first meeting someone new, but warms up rather quickly. He gets along well with the three male dogs at our home. He will go to his new home neutered, microchipped, utd on vaccines and rabies. He is going to make a magnificient collie for the right family.

Heather

Heather was born on April 18, 2009. She came into Tri State Collie Rescue from a breeder along with her brother Shane. She is a very nice puppy that loves to run and play with the other dogs. She's a bit shy when meeting a new person but in just a short time that shyness is exchanged for curiosity and friendliness. She greets her foster mother with tail wagging and jumps for joy. She is a joy to be around.

She is being treated for demodectic mange (not contagious ) and is healing nicely. It would be wonderful for her and her brother to go together to their forever home but she will do nicely by herself also.

Heather is not food aggressive and will go to her forever home spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and rabies. She is going to make a wonderful companion for the right family.

Annie

Puppies are cute, and young dogs can be playful and active, but give me an older dog everytime. An older dog is settled, housebroken, and finished with chewing the furniture and your shoes. An older dog is content to follow you around, lay at your feet, gaze adoringly at your face, and is thankful to have a home where they can be petted, fed regularly, groomed, and finally receive the care and affection they deserve. An older dog can be the most loving and appreciative companion you can ever wish for. Annie is a wonderful 8 year old blue merle collie. A leaner and a follower. She gets the toys from the toy basket and plays like a youngster. She would probably do best in a home without other dogs, or in a home where she can be fed separately, as she is a little food agressive towards the other dogs. She is great with cats and kids, rides well in the car, leash walks quietly, and loves her bed or your couch. When she barks, Annie bounces with joy. She is a happy girl and is looking for a family to call her own.

Katrina - Adoption Pending

Katrina is a precious senior who was found near death in a good Samaritan's yard. She was so weak and emaciated she could not even stand. That good person took her in and cared for her until her landlord told her she couldn't keep the dog. Katrina was then turned over to a private rescue group in Greenfield, Indiana where she was nursed back to health and fully vetted. It was there she was given the name Katrina because she looked like a survivor of the hurricane. Once she was on her way to recovering she was handed over to Tri State to find her forever home. She is now strong and healthy and is showing improvement every day. She loved the groomer and had everyone wrapped around her little dew claw. She is slightly hard of hearing and shows signs of cataracts, but that does not slow her down. She gets along well with my cats and with my dog, Laddie. She is house trained and is very sweet and loving. She puts her head in your lap for pat-pats. She is estimated to be about ten years young. She would do fine in most situations, but probably does not have the energy level for keeping up with rambunctious children. She is quiet and easy to walk on a leash. She loves my fenced back yard and a good pillow. She is ready for someone to give her the lap of luxury she deserves in her later years. Are you that someone?

Lacy

Lacy and Ruby are sisters that came into rescue from a breeder. They are both a little shy but are really sweet and loving girls. They are approximately one year of age and have been fully vetted. They get along great with other dogs and are okay with cats. The foster home says, " When they are in our house they both have certain areas they prefer to stay..." Ruby seems to be the more sociable of the tw, Lacy seems to be more reserved, and Lacy seems to be more compliant. We believe it would take someone with a lot of patience, kindness, and understanding and be able to spend a lot of time with them to gain their confidence.

Joshua

Meet Joshua. He is a handsome young boy, at about 1 year of age. Joshua is new to TSCR and is currently being evaluated. Please check back soon for more information.

Update 25-Jan-2010 : Joshua has been receiving some special attention these last few weeks. Those working with him report the following -

What a special boy!!! He is so wonderful. He has caught on to many commands and I am so impressed by how smart he is. He knows sit, down, heel, kennel, shake, “dead dog”, “kiss”, and many more. He LOVES to be brushed and just craves attention from his people. He still occasionally sneaks in a jump on someone but it is much less than before and he responds to correction. I swear you can talk to him like he speaks English and he responds!

Jackson - Adoption Pending

Description to come.

Harper

My name is Harper and I am estimated at about 5 years old. I am a very sweet, gentle, and loving boy. I get along with other dogs and I am very cat friendly. I am used to living life on the streets, but I am getting very accustomed to this "rescue life". I love being indoors and being part of a wonderful family. I was in pretty bad shape when I arrived in rescue. I am so grateful to these wonderful people for the care they have given me. I have seen the vet and I am all fixed up. They even gave me a bath & groomed me! I feel like a new dog. I am not housebroken yet, but I am working on this. My foster mom said I am very smart so I should catch on quickly. I know basic commands and I sit like a good boy when asked.

Harper Update: Harper went to see the vet last week and they did some bloodwork which showed what his Itraconizole level was. Harper has been on the medication 6 weeks and happily we can report his level was were it should be. There is further testing to be done and hopefully he will have a positive report on those as well.

" HOPE FOR HARPER"

Harper was recently diagnosed with Blastomycosis. If you are not familiar with Blastomycosis, it is a fungus that lives in the soil. Blastomycosis can be deadly to dogs who are infected. Early recognition is key the to survival, but because initial symptoms are similar to other, less threatening conditions, it can be easily misdiagnosed.

In Harper's case the first sign was an eye infection, accompanied by high fever. Treated as a virus, Harper's condition continued to worsen. Over the course of 5 days, the infected left eye swelled and eventually ruptured. Harper's Canine Ophthalmologiat diagnosed Blastomycosis.

With appropriate treatment, Harper is going to be OK. However, he faces surgery for the removal of his eye. Additionally, Harper is on a very expensive antifungal medication, Itraconizole. He will need to stay on it for up to 6 months, or until he test negative for Blastomycosis. At 7.50 a pill, curing Harper will be costly.

Please help save Harper. If you would like to make a donation to Harper for his medical expenses, you can do so through the PayPal link on the left side of our main website ( http://tristatecollierescue.net/ ) or by mail to TSCR, 626 Sable Chase, Brownsburg, IN, 46112. For more information on Blastomycosis please visit www.canineblastomycosis.com

Update on Harper - Thanks to the kind generosity of so many Collie lovers out there, Harper seems to be on the road to recovery. Harper is doing better, and all signs point to continued improvement. While he still has a ways to go, please know that the donations we have received and hope to still receive have made all the difference in keeping Harper alive and getting him on the road to a full and happy life for years and years to come.

Ginger

Ginger came to Tri-State Collie Rescue, Inc., from an Ohio shelter. Ginger was turned in by her owner because she was “sick”. Actually, she had been medically neglected. Her cure was simple – one little, inexpensive pill twice a day. Ginger has hypo-thyroid, very common in pets. All she needed was a little care and TLC.

After her health issues were addressed and she started to recover, we found a wonderful girl with a great personality. Ginger is about 7 years old – old enough to know what she shouldn't do (chew, soil, jump on the furniture). Young enough to go on walks, learn a new trick, and give lots of love. Ginger is a small collie and never goes counter-surfing. She is very good with other dogs and is cat friendly. She loves children and is gentle with kids who are gentle with her. (She is a middle-aged girl and can't handle rough and tumble activity.)

Ginger is very calm during car rides, does well visiting the vet or the pet store. She is just a great collie who deserves a great family to call her own.

Bella
Bella is a small smooth collie/shepherd mix. She is around 7 years old and great with older children and other dogs. She is NOT good with cats or other small animals. She is completely house trained, very smart, loves to walk and ride in the car. She would love a fenced in yard and would be a great companion for an older dog or an empty nester. She is very loyal and sweet.

TRI STATE COLLIE RESCUE SENIOR COLLIES

Our senior dogs are the most difficult to place in forever homes. Many people are hesitant to open their heart to a senior dog knowing that their companionship period is going to be shorter. Most of these wonderful dogs have come from situations where they were once loved family members and have been taken care of and are even housebroken. One look into their eyes and you know how deeply they can love you. The graying muzzle cannot compete with a puppy but please take a moment to consider a senior dog. If you are looking for a quiet companion, one that doesn't make the exhausting demands a younger dog can, then maybe one of our elders is the dog for your family.
