Established in 1989, Tri State Collie Rescue is a group of concerned volunteers
who seek to promote the welfare of the Collie breed. This is accomplished
through our networking and coordinating efforts with various rescue
organizations, dog shelters, humane societies, and members of the communities.
Tri State Collie Rescue has a combined fifty years experience with the collie breed. We are entirely self-supported through fundraising events along with individual and corporate donations. For each collie adopted from Tri State Collie Rescue, a required donation helps to replenish our funds to help with the next rescue collie in need. a Collie comes into your life" We are a registered 501c tax exempt organization as described under Charitable Organizations by the IRS. |
Rescue dogs come from a variety of circumstances and places. Some are from shelters/humane societies, having arrived as strays or as dogs relinquished directly by former owners. The reasons they need new homes vary, but we often hear statements such as:
|
Most rescued dogs aren't usually abused or neglected, but are a result of bad decisions and being acquired with insufficient preparation and research. As for those that have been abused or neglected, many new owners tell us the dogs seem to understand their good fortune and respond by demonstrating an especially attentive and loving attitude that collies are so well known for.
WHO WE ARE:
TRI STATE COLLIE RESCUE VOLUNTEERS have been professional breeders and dog show exhibitors, and we have more then 50 years of combined professional experience with the collie breed. In addition, our group includes devoted collie owners and lovers. We are listed as a recognized rescue group with the COLLIE CLUB OF AMERICA
OUR MISSION:
To end the indiscriminate breeding practices of irresponsible breeders, to educate the public about the lifetime responsibilities of caring for a pet, including the necessity of spaying and neutering, and to promote the return of undying love and devotion collies offer their owners. Too many purebred collies are found as strays, in dog shelters, or in the humane societies. We hope to eliminate the euthanasia of these collies.
