Can You Help Nelson?

This is Nelson. He's a young loving six month old sable/white boy. He was turned into a private shelter by his owner.  Nelson then came down with parvo along with having demodectic mange.  The shelter did a wonderful job and got him through his ordeal with parvo and began treatment for his generalized mange.  They decided to turn him over to TSCR due to the cost to treat him and the knowledge we have about the breed.  Nelson has responded to treatment and has been improving daily.  He was shaved down to help cure the mites.

Demodectic mange is not contagious and is transmitted by the mother at birth.  All dogs carry the mite but when a dog is stressed or not receiving the proper care and their immune systems become comprimised - generalized demodectic mange can flare its ugly head.  With treatment and lots of tlc, they can be cured.

Check back periodically for updates on Nelson.

Nelson continues to make great progress. However, his treatment will be quite involved and very expensive. If you are able to help out with a donation, please see below.
